One aspect of the Retablo titled “The Veil of Pain”. is its 2D geometric centrality. Tertiary colors on a monochromatic red ground maximizes all other aesthetic elements. Traditionally the presents of a white cross serve as a symbol of the Christian faith. This white cross is about the act of surrender. A contemporary reflection on the life of a person that has been betrayed. As the title of the Retablo suggest “The Veil of Pain” is an acknowledgment that one has been robed and left broken in the shadow.

The stark ephemerality of this assemblage captures the force of emptiness that is felt when trust and passion have been abused. However, built into the structure of reality is the ability to regenerate, to make a new beginning to learn form mistakes and assert personal dissonance. The psychological minimalism of this assemblage allows room for self-preservation and re-orientation.
