The narrative behind Retablo titled: Prayers For The Twenty Rounds On The Palouse.” is in part a story about ritual, ceremony and contradictions. In the early spring the earth awakes ready to offer up its subterranean secrets. Rows upon rows of seeds pushed into perfectly groomed symmetrical lines. An image of pastoral perfection translated through geometrically sloped hills with harmonious proportions. Earth forced to yield, to produce and provide a perfect industrial product. The yellow circle like the sun accommodates and contains all adversarial and heroic chaos. The green circle references the structure and fecundity of the world. The twenty spent rounds represent the blind character of human corruption and willful indifference.

At the center of all consequence is the cosmos where the the divine and ethereal ancestors resided in eternal bliss. A celestial sanctuary of hope love and boundless renewal.
