The narrative of Retablo #24 titled “the Traumatic Skin Graft” is based on the concept of two very divergent views of two intertwines worlds. One, the world of consumption with its profane narcissism and contemptuous distrust for any person that isn’t willing to abide by its rules. By contrast world number two is governed by ideological conscience where honesty and compassion for the suffering or misfortunes of other humans is paramount.

Shedding one’s own broken skin requires a total abandonment of fear, helpless, despair, pride, shame, and nihilism. The transcendence from a broken skin to a new self is a very complex inward journey which requires leaving behind useless perceptions. The title “The Skin Graft” becomes a living metaphor for any person that is seeking a profound reawakening in what they think, feel and believe.
